The Summit County Historical Society of Akron, OH will hold its 102nd annual meeting on Thursday, May 21st at the Hilton Garden Inn as an America250 event.
David Giffels, nationally recognized author and professor at The University of Akron, will be the guest speaker. He will share his memories of the 1976 Bicentennial here in Akron and Summit County and how that time related to the birth of the Akron Sound during strikes of the rubber industry.
The event will also include vintage images and artifact vignettes.

Tickets are $55 per person or $100 for patron tickets. Patrons will receive one ticket to join David Giffels on the Perkins Stone Mansion front porch for a patron gathering on Monday, June 29th from 6-8 p.m.
The meal includes salad, baked brie en croute, a pasta bar, a southern smoked brisket with mashed sweet potatoes bar and dessert (flourless chocolate torte or cheesecake or vegan cupcake).
