We offer two 4th Grade Outreach Programs which are presented in-class by one of our staff members.

A River Through Time

A River Through Time transports students back to the ice age where they learn how the landscape of Northeast Ohio developed. As students continue their "river journey", they discover the world and cultures of the Paleo People, Archaic, and Woodland Indians. Complete with artifacts that are thousands of years old, classroom activities and student participation, this hour-long program reinforces many of the state standards, including the use of time-line, sequence, history, geography and vocabulary. This program is designed for fourth grade. It is approximately one hour in length. The cost is $40 per classroom. Please call 330-535-1120 or send an email to schs@summithistory.org to schedule.

Towpath to the Past

Towpath to the Past highlights the creation of the Ohio and Erie Canal and its impact on the social and economic growth of Akron, Summit County and the State of Ohio. A traveling lock model complements the numerous pictures, maps, and artifacts. This program is entertaining, educational and encourages class participation. This program is designed for fourth grade. It is approximately one hour in length. The cost is $40 per classroom. Please call 330-535-1120 or send an email to schs@summithistory.org to schedule.
