The Society's John Brown Institute will host its 4th annual "We Have a Voice Too!: Youth Empowerment Summit" on Friday, February 13th. The event is free and the keynote speaker this year is Akron Mayor Shammas Malik.
The program is open to students in grades 8 - 12. Registration is required as free breakfast and lunch will be served. Sweatshirts will be available for those students that register by February 6th. Sign up on EventBrite or call Reva at 330.535.1120.
Local leaders will lead break out sessions and host community tables for the students. DJ Vinnie will spin tunes throughout the event from 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Doors open at 9 a.m. at the Shaw JCC. The program is sponsored in part by the Society, JBI, Lippman School, Shaw JCC, the City of Akron, County of Summit and Buckingham, Doolittle and Burroughs (sweatshirt sponsor).
