Stone Barns of America book talk with Dr. Robert Kroeger

Sep 18, 2025

Tickets are available via EventBrite now.

The Society is pleased to invite you to another book talk by Dr. Robert Kroeger on Thursday, September 18th at Himelright Lodge. He will share stories about the unique stone barns east of the Mississippi River in his newest publication. Bob's stories are poignant, funny and sentimental as he canvases past and present farms with historic barns that reflect our national history. On display that evening will be the paintings that Bob completed during last year's tour of Bath barns along with examples of his stone barn works.

Guests may purchase the book online only as no physical sales will take place at Himelright Lodge, property on the Summit Metro Park. Please use this format to purchase a book when signing up for the talk or call the Society office at 330.535.1120 to prepay for the book. You may pick up the book to have it signed at the talk or you may pick up the book from the Society Woodshed Emporium gift shop before or after the event.

Bob will be in town to view more Summit County barns and gather stories about the families who have used and preserved them. Contact the Society if you would like Bob to visit your vintage barn (1930s and older). Currently on display in the Society's John Brown House is an exhibition of the barns that Bob has painted compositions of over the past six years. Thank you to Denise Lundell for curating the pieces with volunteer Karen Clark's help. These works will go up for an online auction later this month. Barn owners will be contacted ahead of time for first purchase options.
