Aug 03, 2022

Rubber City Road Rally is now a family friendly series

Premier sponsors Bob Hutchison & Lora Suttles and Tom Hutchison invite the public to join them in the new road rally series that is affordable fun for the entire family. The first event of Planes, Trains and Automobiles will take place on Sunday, August 14th. The route will start at the John Brown House with a picnic lunch and end at the MAPS Air Museum where participants will have a chance to visit this unique Summit County museum featuring numerous planes, a Goodyear gondola and details about local military heroes.

Tickets are $25 per car or $200 per patron car. The event is all inclusive with the rally route, a sack lunch and admission to the MAPS museum.

Reservations are required by Friday, August 4th and they can be made online at https://bit.ly/22RRPlanes or by calling the Society office at 330.535.1120.

The Schreckenberger family (Chas, Kim & Sarah) are co-chairs of the program and they have made arrangements for the tours with MAPS museum staff while also setting their sights on the next leg of the rally featuring trains to take place this fall.

Society President and CEO Leianne Neff Heppner shares her gratitude to Bob, Lora and Tom for their generosity in making this year’s road rally a series event that all can enjoy. The route will be picturesque and short to allow plenty of time for those attending to explore the MAPS museum.

Cars will start at the John Brown House, 514 Diagonal Road, Akron, OH, where lunch is available at 11:30 a.m., a rally instruction meeting at 12:30 p.m. and the first car on the course at 12:45 p.m.

2021 and 2022 rally patrons are invited to an after party hosted by Bob Hutchison & Lora Suttles and Tom Hutchison at Table 530 – Pick’s PLX. Details will be shared with patrons via email.

Elizabeth Campbell , Society board chair, looks forward to seeing a great number turn out for the annual event. She is a past rally champion and wishes all, “Good luck!”
