In honor of the Women' Suffrage Centennial, Josy Jones will recite the speech given by Sojourner Truth here in Akron at the 1851 Ohio Women's Convention. You know it as "Ain't I a Woman?" but did you know that title and those words are not hers?
This opportunity is part of the John Brown Monument Hike scheduled to start at the Akron Zoo back parking lot at 10 a.m. Dave Lieberth will give a talk about John Brown at this event hosted in partnership with Doug Piekarz and the Akron Zoo.
The event is FREE and open to the public thanks to a grant from the Ohio Arts Council. Please prepare for the weather - rain or shine. The terrain is not paved or level and there is an incline to the monument.
