Round Barns of America book talk

Sep 15, 2023

Our friend Bob Kroeger will be back in Summit County to visit more barns and also share stories from his latest project, Round Barns of America. The noon talk is free and open to the public at the John Brown House. Bob was inspired to capture and tell the stories of these nostalgic structures of the past which led to a previous work, Barns of Ohio. His passion continues as he documents their construction, tales and sometimes farewells.

Bob will paint a barn image and the Society will raffle tickets for an attendee to win the work. Books will be available for purchase signed by the author.

A select few of his round barn works and those he has painted of local Summit County barns will be available to view in an exhibition for the event. Paintings will be available for purchase via online auction through the end of September.

Reviews of Bob's book:

Stephen George, Senior Advisor to the CEO of the Ohio History Connection, proclaims "And while so many of Ohio's remaining barns are treasured features of our landscape, round barns pop out and command our attention. Bob Kroeger's passion for historic barns is exceptional. So too are his vibrant impasto oil paintings. Here, Bob's artist's eye and skilled painter's hand showcase the country's extraordinatory collection of round barns."

"I like to think of round barns as the fireworks show at the end of an era of incredible craftsmanship. If you stand in the haymow of an old round barn and gaze upwards, you can witness firsthand the fireworks - with rafters overhead emanating - seemingly exploding - from the center apex," shares Vincent Loveall, founder of Facebook sites Round Barns of America and Round Barns of the US.
