John Brown Monument Hike

Learn more about the abolitionist committed to ending slavery in the United States on a hike up to the John Brown Monument with the Akron Zoo and the Summit County Historical Society on Saturday, August 14th at 9 a.m. Dave Lieberth, Society Director Emeritus, and Leianne Neff Heppner, Society president & CEO, will present the history of the monument and the life of John Brown.

The hike will begin at the Akron Zoo parking lot. Upon entrance to the zoo, turn left and follow the lot to its end. Signage will also be on site.

The event is free and open to the public and will be held rain or shine. Please dress according to the weather and wear hiking shoes as the terrain is at an incline and uneven in spots.
