Volunteer Opportunities

We are looking for volunteers of all ages who would like to get involved with our organization that has been a part of the Akron community since 1924. SCHS is looking specifically for people who have an interest in any of the following:

• Serving as a Tour Guide at the Perkins Stone Mansion (550 Copley Road). Guides are needed for tours that are held Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, April through December. All volunteers must participate in a 2-hour Tour Guide training session prior to beginning work.
• Providing Curatorial Assistance. Volunteers are needed to work with managing the collections inventory, care of artifacts, and exhibition display and design. Training on artifact care is provided.
• Gardening assistance. Volunteer help is needed to help maintain the extensive gardens located at the Perkins Stone Mansion and John Brown house locations
