Have you considered SCHS in your will?
The Denver Richards story.
In 2005 the Summit County Historical Society learned that it was to be a recipient of a sizable bequest from a local Akron citizen, Denver L. “Denny” Richards. Denny was a graduate of East High School, served in the Army in WWII and also served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was employed by Goodyear Research for 36 years and was a member of the Goodyear 25-year Club. In addition, Denny was a charter member of both the American Theater Organ Society and the Western Reserve Theater Society, owning a theater organ himself that he had installed in his home.
Denny Richards died on January 18, 2003 at the age of 82. He was predeceased
by his two sisters Ruth Edgell and Dorothy Snyder. We can surmise that
it was through his respect for the preservation work of the Society that
he chose to bequeath his estate to SCHS. This unexpected but welcomed
gift was able to be used in a variety of ways, supporting critical operating
needs as well as our endowment program. There are many ways to provide
a gift through planned giving as this chart shows. Call SCHS or your financial
advisor today to explore any of these options further.
