Juneteenth: A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

The John Brown House will be open free for Juneteenth on June 19th from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. The Society is honored to host the Akron Zoo exhibition, "Black History in Perkins Woods," through June 28th.  See EventBrite for more more details.

A panel discussion about Emmer Lancaster, Ed Davis and the custard stand will be held from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. under the tent. Guests include Michelle Camou - Akron Zoo, Keith Davis and Robert Davis - sons of the late Councilman Ed Davis, along with Donovan Landry and Barbara Crooks - past Custard Stand owners.

The West Akron Parade for Juneteenth will end near the Society's John Brown House on Saturday, June 21st. The parade starts at Buchtel CLC at noon. There wil be a John Brown Monument Hike on Saturday at 10 a.m.
