Anna Dean Farm Walking Tour


On Sunday May 18, 2008 at 1:30 PM, the Barberton Historical Society will host our 18th annual free Anna Dean Farm Walking Tour. The tour will begin at the Piggery at 248 East Robinson Ave, where there is plenty of free parking.  In Barberton, the Piggery is located at the intersection of First Street SE and Robinson Ave. Only one tour is conducted and the tour begins promptly at 1:30 PM. 

 
Anna Dean FarmThe tour will then proceed to the Heating House, the Barber Dam, Barn No 1, (Yoder Brothers), the Oak Grove,  the Feed Barn, the Poultry Department, and the Brooder Barn before concluding back at the Piggery.  You will tour the interiors of five of the remaining barns on the estate of O. C. Barber.
 
New this year the historical society will be selling our available books and miniatures at the Piggery. All the proceeds from the sale of these items are used for the preservation of the Barber Barns.  The remaining barns on the estate of Ohio C. Barber are considered to be the most significant and unique collection of historic barns in the U.S. and are listed on the National Register as Ohio's first Thematic District.  The Barber barns are only open for tours on only one day per year and so we hope that you can join us on May 18th. 
 
2008 is the 99th Anniversary of the Anna Dean Farm.  We hope that you will be able to join us at this free, fun, and relaxing tour.  Why not come to Barberton early, and enjoy one of Barberton's famous chicken dinners and then join us for our tour?  In Barberton, the Piggery is located near the intersection of First Street SE and Robinson Ave. Only one tour group is conducted and the tour begins promptly at 1:30 PM. 
 
If you are unable to walk from point to point you may drive to each location, but you are please asked to begin your tour at the Piggery.
